8mm Film
Regular 8 film - Super 8 film
We clean your film using Edwal film cleaner and a lint free cloth. If there are loose splices or breaks, we repair those also. We use a RetroScan Universal (RetroScan) telecine device that is state of the art and is used by many well-known companies. Capture is done at 4MP and we finish with digital color correction for rich and vibrant images using Adobe Premiere. If your reels have label descriptions of what is on the reel, those will be put as captions onto the footage. We finish the project by either putting your footage on a DVD or formatting the footage as .MP4 that can be put on a flashdrive or upload to the Cloud so you can download yourself.
Are you unsure of the content of the films? For this issue we can help you out - After the material is scanned into a video format, we will give you access to the video via Youtube so you get a chance to review what is on the 8mm reels. Having the capability to review the video before the finished product is done is a nice option.
For projects finished on DVD, we use the DVD format DVD-R which is the most widely used format in DVD players. Archival quality DVD's are rated to last up to 100 years. You will receive your DVD in a slim DVD case that has a printed color cover.
For projects finished to .MP4, we compress your final project footage to fit on options like flash drives or the Cloud. The easier access to the recording for you, the easier it will be for you to play on devices that can play videos. Keep in mind that compression sometimes causes a degradation in quality.
For all projects be sure to fill out the 8mm Project Pricing Form, this is very important. When gathering your film together, try to put a sticky note on each film container indicating year and title of the film. If you do not know what is on the film we will process the film and have you examine a portion via a secure Youtube account to verify what the film is. Print out our 8mm Project Pricing Form (this also includes a handy film sizing guide) located on our Ordering page. Fill out the form and include it with your film.
If you are dropping off your film at our home/office, see instructions on the order form you are filling out for your project on how/where to drop off. If not, place the film along with your order form in a strong box, packed to hold your film secure. Your local Post Office has boxes that can be purchased to hold your film for shipment. Make sure to send us an email ([email protected]) stating that you are sending the film. Send your box to the following address:
